Frequently Asked Questions

If you are concerned that you or a loved one may be experiencing hearing loss, you are not alone. Because hearing loss can be gradual, it’s often the people around you who notice your hearing problems before you do. If you find yourself exhibiting the following symptoms, consider coming in for a hearing screening:

  • You frequently ask people to repeat what they said.
  • You have difficulty understanding women or small children.
  • You laugh at jokes even though you may not have heard the details.
  • You frequently complain that people mumble.
  • You need to ask others about the details of a meeting you just attended.
  • You play the TV or radio louder than your friends, spouse, or relatives.
  • You find that looking at people when they speak to you makes them easier to understand.
  • You miss environmental sounds, such as birds chirping or leaves blowing.
  • You find yourself avoiding certain restaurants because they are too noisy.
  • You hear a ringing sound in your ears, especially when it is quiet.

Hearing aids are not "one size fits all". We work with all the major manufacturers including Phonak, Starkey, Oticon, Signia, Unitron, and Resound.  Our audiologists will help you choose based on your individual listening needs. Factors to consider include your type and degree of hearing loss, lifestyle needs, cosmetic preferences and budget.

Hearing aids vary in price depending on the type & level of technology. Contact our office for the most up-to-date pricing information.

Hearing loss affects individuals of all ages.  Hearing aids don’t make you look old, but being unable to follow along with conversations, asking others to repeat themselves, and answering questions inappropriately do!  Hearings aids these days can also be very discrete.

We are in-network with many insurance providers, but hearing aid coverage varies widely. If you are unsure of your benefits, our office is happy to assist with verifying your benefits with your insurance provider.

We adopt new patients all the time who have relocated or who weren’t satisfied with their previous provider. We are happy to help you in your hearing health journey no matter where you purchased your devices.

OTC devices are not prescriptive hearing aids. The OTC product offering is different than what you can obtain by a licensed hearing care professional. OTC devices are meant for adults with perceived mild to moderate hearing loss with no medical assessment or ongoing services required. If you’re considering an OTC device, we urge you to do your research. Pay special attention to any return policy, warranty, and technical support that will come with your device.
